Emotional Anatomy

Emotional Anatomy, or Metaphysical Anatomy as it is properly termed, is based on the understanding that when we experience pain, discomfort or dis-ease in our bodies, there is an emotional root cause buried beneath the physical symptom.

Something in the present may have been the trigger, however, there is almost always a deeper emotion stemming from childhood or ancestral trauma that has been activated.

We form these beliefs and deep emotional burdens when we are young as a survival mechanism.  This is usually about remaining safe, loved and connected to our parents or influential people in our lives. This emotion or trauma stores in the body because the body’s job is to protect us.  At some point in our adult lives, these stored emotions or beliefs no longer benefit or serve us because we aren’t children anymore.

It is when there is an incongruence between what has been stored and what we now need or want that the body presents this to us as something we need to heal or discard fully.

What does a session look like?

The session is not structured, in fact, it is very fluid.  I have some guiding questions to help explore the issue, however, no two sessions are alike.  We know we have resolved the root cause when we feel no more emotional charge and a sense of knowing and calm.  Tears, laughter and physical symptoms such as rapid breathing indicate that the body is still in the trauma cycle.  We aim to move past this.

There is no time limit to the session. The session relies heavily on you feeling in to your body and emotions, being vulnerable and honest. You are also free to call an end to the session at any time.

When we feel that we have identified the root cause of the physical symptom, we are then able to move in to a 30 minute Spinal Flow session. This gives your nervous system a chance to drop in to a parasympathetic state (rest and digest, not fight-flight).  Your body may choose to release more blockages at this time – this is all positive movement and change.
